Beach Combing:
Island
beaches are mostly private. Many of the Island's public beaches
are Department of Natural Resources sites, accessible only by
boat or kayak.
The
Beach at the Ferry Dock
• 2200 North Nugent Road. One
that is easily accessed is D.N.R. Beach 224, which extends north
about 100 yards from the ferry landing. Park at the landing and
walk north along the road to a viewing platform where stairs lead
down to the beach.
The
Church Beach
• 3913 Legoe Bay Road, The Lummi Island
Congregational Church permits public access via a pathway in the
back of the church. Parking is plentiful and this south view beach
is both tranquil and pristine.
When
Boating/Kayaking When exploring by boat, consider the
sandy beaches at Inati Bay on the SE side of the Island and nearby
D.N.R. Beaches 223, 223A and 223B. You'll find two mooring buoys
and picnic facilities at Inati Bay.
